The Knit Surfers attend TNNA in San Diego and have a blast seeing all of the new products and ordering beautiful yarns and things for the store. Friday night was the Sample It and Fashion show.
First stop was at Mountain Colors with their new Twizzlefoot yarn is a fingering weight Superwash Merino/Silk/Nylon blend. Kelie made a cowl out of her Leucadia colorway she picked up at the San Diego yarn crawl. It's called the Willow Cowl and is available for purchase on Ravelry.
Nancy found a wonderful cashmere from Pepperberry Knits.
Retromantic Fripperies had beautifully designed wood products that Nancy is planning on using for some custom art designs. They tried out Kelie's new coasters by making a delicious coffee using Trader Joe's Coffee and Cocoa blend, Half & Half, and Kahlua.
The Fashion show was fun and showed off a lot of beautiful knitwear.
Anzula's booth was a favorite with a huge display of all their colors and yarns. Hanna is holding the colors that were bought for the store in their new laceweight yarn called Meridian. It is a blend of Tencel, Alpaca, and Nylon. Come to the trunk show on January 24, 2016 to see all the beautiful Anzula yarns and samples!
The Knit Surfers had a lot of fun with Rhichard Devrieze of The Yarns of Rhichard Devrieze. Kelie has big plans for all of his beautiful colors!
Purl & Loop introduced the Stash Blaster 8.0 weaving loom that is the perfect size for sampling different weaves and colors.
There will be lots of new knitting bags at the store from Atenti and Plymouth. Also a lot of new accessories from Hiya Hiya and Cocoknits.
The Knit Surfers are very happy to have purchased an Ashford Blending Board and are looking forward to sharing it with Common Threads customers and spread the joy of spinning!
Kelie attended Vicki Twigg's class on Sunday at the store to learn about the Twigg Stitch technique. It is a twist on reversible knitting and a fun way to play with colors.
The Great American Aran Afghan knitalong at the store starts this week. Knitters will be making one block a month and learn many new stitches along the way. This knitalong is dedicated to Caryl Nelson, Nancy's mom who passed away over the holidays. There are 40 knitters joining in on this wonderful tribute to a beautiful woman. Nancy is using Galway in blue and green heathered colors.
Common Threads will be closed Saturday, January 23 for Caryl's memorial at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Del Mar.
