Nancy and Kelie discuss the end of Nancy's textile class at Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM). The students have taken their finals and played Fabric Bingo. Kelie thinks it's a great idea to play yarn bingo at the store.
Kelie's Current Project - Fire Drake Shawl by Abigail Phelps using her handspun laceweight in a gradient colorway that goes from Orange to Red to Purple. It's a lot of yardage and going to be very big.
Watch for spinning classes coming in 2015 at Common Threads so you can have your own handspun to knit with!
Nancy's Current Project - Still working on her I Heart Noro blanket and is loving it so much, she'll probably make another one!
Kelie and Nancy discuss the customers' request for warm fiber that is not wool for people who may be allergic. Nancy tells us about the manufacturing of synthetic fibers and how they are made to mimic the qualities of wool. Moral of the story is, Don't turn your nose up at synthetics! There is amazing technology out there!
What's going on in the store:
